How AI Works in DinnerDesk
DinnerDesk uses AI in three distinct ways: (1) weekly meal plan generation using Claude Sonnet, (2) individual recipe generation and household taste profile derivation using Claude Haiku, and (3) Dinner Roulette cuisine-based recipe generation using Claude Haiku. Each flow transmits only the minimum household preference data needed for that specific task.
What the AI Sees
- Your meal ratings (star ratings for previously generated meals, adult and kids separately)
- A derived household taste profile summarizing your rating history — used at meal plan generation time to personalize future plans
When you rate meals, DinnerDesk uses those ratings to derive a taste profile for your household. This profile — a plain-language summary of your preferences based on your ratings — is stored in our database and sent to the AI at your next meal plan generation. It does not contain your name, email, or any identifying information.
Our AI Provider: Anthropic
DinnerDesk uses Anthropic’s Claude API. Anthropic’s standard API terms are designed to protect your data. Unlike consumer-facing chatbots, data sent through the Anthropic API is generally not used to train their global AI models. We recommend reviewing their official policies for the latest privacy standards.
